RULES FOR THE DÔJÔ

The dôjô is the place of wisdom, of knowledge. It is the place of Awakening.

To access it, the following are indispensable:
good manners;
sincere love for the art one is studying;
true faith in the teacher one has freely chosen.

In it, one abstains from talking in a loud voice, from arguing, from distracting oneself in any way.

Observe scrupulous personal hygiene.

The fingernails must be short, the hairstyle compact or the hair cut short.

The costume for the practice must be worn correctly, washed periodically and of the right size.

Late arrival is not allowed, unless by agreement with the teacher.

Signal one’s intention with a slight bow whenever one wants to address the teacher or a new companion, or to start a new exercise.

Always remember that courtesy and respect are of the highest importance; the bow is the direct expression of it, but one must not abuse it.

Being present at the lessons is equivalent to taking part in them; one is present with the permission of the teacher and with respect for the time of the lesson.

Smoking is forbidden in the whole area adjoining the dôjô.

Order, concentration, courtesy and decency are principles that must also reign in the changing rooms and bathrooms, which are additional places and occasions for following the study and practice of the dôjô.

These are simple rules that may be completed and supplemented, but remember that entry to the dôjô is restricted to only those who intend to understand and study personally. The aim is to improve oneself as much physically as morally and spiritually through the best use of energy, so that practice brings a mutual benefit.

Those who do not accept these rules are requested not to ask for permission to attend the courses or be present during the lessons.
